Over the past several weeks, various industry associations have sounded off regarding the controversy surrounding the New York Boat Show at New York City’s Jacob Javits Convention Center. Governor Andrew Cuomo decided to move the show, which had been scheduled for late December to late January.Because of the shift, five other shows--the New York International Gift Fair (now known as NY NOW), Business Journal's MRket Show, Texworld Show, the National Retail Federation Show, and the Action Sports Wear and Street Wear Show-Agenda--that had booked space at the Center also had to be moved.
A story in Crain’s suggested that a reversal on the decision might be forthcoming, but even a strongly worded editorial in Forbes has not convinced the governor or the Convention Center authorities to change their minds.
